The Indiana University School of Music is widely respected as one of the world’s most comprehensive institutions for musical studies. By combining the academic programs of a great university with the atmosphere of a conservatory, the school offers a coordinated program of study and performance that few can match.

It is in this environment that the Young Pianists Program thrives under the directorship of Dr. Karen Taylor.  There are approximately 125 students many of which travel up to two hours for lessons with the outstanding faculty of teachers.  Both the students and faculty are frequently observed by students in the piano pedagogy program at the university.  Bloomington provides many opportunities for performing, competitions and concert attendance, and at the end of each semester there are a series of recitals where students can showcase their skills learned during the previous months.

During the summer, The Indiana University Piano Academy attracts young pianists from all over the country.  The excellent facilities, and faculty under the direction of Dr. Taylor provide an intensive 3 week program starting mid June.  During this period there are seminars given by Bloomington faculty on topics such as "The Golden Age of the Piano, and "Chopin Performance Master Class."
