Three years ago a Theory of Music course was added as an option for students of the Young Pianists Program.  Three levels of classes are offered; beginning, intermediate and advanced theory.  In these courses young pianists are introduced to various elements of music theory from basic notation, music tools, formal analysis, and a broad spectrum of ear training skills.  The addition of theory to the program allowed these students to understand how music is created, and helped to set them apart from students not introduced to music theory.
